Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
I have this friend who's all about American muscle and big motors, not to mention that he hates hondas, probably because they are everywhere. Anyways, we're driving home from Denny's one morning, and we're just passing each other on the highway. He passes me, I pass him, he passes me, blah blah blah. We get to a straight stretch. I move into the left lane, and he floors it. I don't. I fly by him and ate his soul while doing so. We get back into town, and we pull up by each other and he says, "Dude, I gotta give it to ya. Your car is quick. Your car is damn quick. I was floored and you passed me like nothing!" So yeah, kinda cool. See, hondas aren't bad!!!!
Later guys! |

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
I just have an AEM short ram system, and fresh fluids. He, has the stock V-8 motor. The thing is, about a year or two back, I used to own a 95 Dodge Avenger, and we raced on the highway and he beat me pretty good. Well, I guess after that incident, he's had this ego about his car being so awesome. A friend said he'd pull up by a vette or other sports cars and he'd talk crap. Well, I finally put him in his place. That's kind of the back story.
But yeah, just an intake. I'd like to get the Greddy Evo 2 exhaust, and someday be running a few pounds of boost, but in the mean time, PRELUDE LOVE! |

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
Yeah, his T-bird is a boat, and the V-8 motors only put out 155 hp. And that was back when it was new. But yeah, maybe he'll think twice before opening his mouth about a Honda. :P My next victim will be a new Stang, then a Viper! MUAHAHAHAHAHA.

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
put a few thousand into your Honda and you will be able to beat Mustangs and Vipers...boosted Hondas can easily walk those cars. I've taken out a few 07 Mustangs, but haven't ever gotten the chance to race a Viper directly...they're in the 13s and since i'm shooting for a 12.5, i'm pretty confident i could beat one w/o a lot of trouble....its the 60' times that get me...

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
Yeah, that'll be the day. I've seen a video of a viper racing a civic hatchback, and the civic beat it, almost effortlessly. Well since vipers are built for top speed, it'd be hard to compete against that, unless you have some serious power and tuned tranny gears or something. I really want to boost my prelude, but I hear that the h22's aren't the best, then I hear that they can take a good amount of boost stock, and plus I have an automatic, which isn't the best thing to have for FI, but it's all good. A few pounds of boost won't hurt will it? Later guys!

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
I am not saying it can't be done, but not with that car the way it is now. The new viper is running 11s with 600hp. Thumbs up to any prelude that takes that viper down.

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
That's a big stretch in power to match the viper. How much do vipers weigh? I'd assume more than the lude, I hope. I'll just stick to racing cars that are more in my league, but in the meantime, PRELUDE LOVE! Later guys.

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
06 Viper- 3400lbs.(plus driver) 510Hp p/w ratio of about 7.
A 2500 lb Honda would need about 300-350hp to beat that (from a roll anyway) give or take some depending on variables. Im aiming for about 250hp out of my d16 when im all done.

Re: Ford Thunderbird vs. Honda Prelude
Next years viper is lighter and has 600HP. I am not even a viper fan, but you are talking about a pretty serious prelude at that point.
