Drivetrain : CV Half Shaft Assembly
I climbed under my 98 regency - touring sedan and found the driver's side boot ripped. I hear a clunk, clunk, when I turn to the right, but it usually disappears when the tire is straight.
Because it's already making the clunk, do I need to replace the whole shaft assembly or just the boot? I see a the 1/2 shaft assembly on rockauto for $65. |

Re: Drivetrain : CV Half Shaft Assembly
I have a service manual for an 89 touring sedan (my first olds), looks like the same motor for the 93 (except superchargers) Do you think I could use this manual as my reference guide for replacing the CVJ?
I was also on rockauto.com for the CV part and there were two parts. Anyone know the difference? CARDONE SELECT Part # 661210 Front Left A-1 CARDONE Part # 601210 {Reman CV Half-Shaft Assembly / Overall Length=20 3/4" Outboard Splines=33 Inboard Splines=35 Inboard Joint Type=Female} Front Left One final stupid question. Is the left side the drivers side? |

Re: Drivetrain : CV Half Shaft Assembly
I do not like Cardone parts, but why pay shipping and what if it is wrong or bad, get one locally everbody carries these, yes the procedure is essentially the same. Yes, all parts are looked at from the drivers seat.

Agreed, Buy the part in town as a just in case... You never know if it will be the wrong part until you can look at it and compare..
