headers for a 79 trans am

I recently bought a 79 trans am and Have been looking for a set of headers for this car. I found a set but it said it only fit 70 to 76 trans am's. I wanted to know if anyone knows why these wont fit my 79.

Re: headers for a 79 trans am

Because of the position of the crossmember. You can get a 70-79 firebird header and it should fit.

Re: headers for a 79 trans am

Refer to the other thread about heads, for more information about the specifics.

As long as you're certain you have the Pontiac and not the Olds, KWS is correct. Hooker "Comps" are great for a mild engine, and SuperComps are the best "out of the box" header out there for a car such as this.
