auto shop complaint
I had a engine put into a car a couple weeks ago the place i went is a well known shop he has worked on some of my other cars and family memebers cars. He has always taken a long time to complete the job but always did good work. Anyway this time around its a lil different pick the car up it ran fine later that day low oil light came on i took it back he fixed that. next day car wouldn't start had to get it towed there he so called fixed it. The 2 days after that the car wouldn't start but i wigled a few wires and it finalyl started took it back and he so called fixed that. mean while gas isnt cheap nor is getting your car towed even if u have AAA your basically using up all your tows anyway
A couple days later everytime i would put it into reverse the low oil light would come on and the car would cut off but immediately start back. eventually it started to cut off while in drive. I got it home. the next day i called he told me to bring it in but the car would not stay started as soon as i toke my foot off the gas it cut off. he said he was sending a tow truck never came. than he said he was sending a guy to get it , never showed, i call him curse him out he lies and says someones is coming nobody comes. so now its only one thing left that is to get the credit card company involved. try to get some of my money back. has anyone ever had to go through this process? I would appreciate any suggestions sorry for the long post but i have to vent my anger before i go beat this guy like he stole something |

Re: auto shop complaint
What kind of car is it and where is the replacement motor from? How did the car run before you brought it to him? What were you promised? Are you dealing with the shop owner about this? If not you need to be.
Since you and your family have been using his shop he has a reputation to uphold in order to avoid losing your business. It sounds to me like he is willing to make good on your repair, but hasn't followed through. Calmly talk it over with him and offer to have the car brought to him for final repair. I would also explain that you have contacted your credit card company to dispute the charges. Explain that once your car is working as previously agreed upon, you will be more than happy to release payment. Because of your several problems, you might consider asking him to drive the car for more than a quick test before you take it back. Depending on what all was replaced, be prepared of the possibility that he may find additional parts or labor necessary. Again, because of the reputation issue, he probably won't try to scam you, but if you give us enough information we can tell you if he is. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Re: auto shop complaint
The car is a 94 cutlass supreme 3100 and it was a used motor not sure where they got it from. IT is a 6,000/ 6 month warranty. well before he had the car it idled very fast, it cutoff while driving, water pump was bad and it had a rattling sound, so we took it in and he said it was the engine of course we don't know if he just fixed the old one or put another one in. H e says he replaced it. We can only go by what he says. we were promised that the car would run perfectly those were his exact words. because the only thing that was wrong with the car was the engine and that was what he was replacing. WE are dealing with the owner/ manager. As of right now the car will start put immediately cut off or stumple liek its starving for gas . if your foot isnt on the pedal its going to cut off.
We went up there and told him how we felt and he was saying im going to fix it etc. and he never gets loud or anything. its just that he had numerous times to look at the car but never did and constantly lied. or just tweeked something so it will work for a while. So i don't know if i wanna trust this guy he might be tryin to just get it running to the warranty is over. But like i said he always took long everyone complains about that .but he use to do good work or had good workers. but now i dont know whats wrong . Thanks |

Re: auto shop complaint
It's hard to say from the symptoms you describe exactly what might be wrong. I'd be curious about the oil pressue sending unit wiring. If it's OK and the sending unit itself looks like it was installed OK, I'd be thinking that your used engine is crap.
