88 Hasn't been started in 8 months, how do I get her on the road again

Man this is a sweet american car I'm talking about. A friend is going back into the military so he gave me his sons car, because he got a new one. She said it hasn't been started in 8 yes 8 months, but she stated that it ran like a champ before then. So I went out there and put some gas in it, sprayed the carb up with starter fluid and purchased a new battery for it. I tried to start her up, she wants to start but I think once the starter fluid and gas I pured down the carb is burned up she just dies.

So I'm thinking the fuel filter is clogged up. What do you think? Where is the fuel filter located and what is the best way to get it off. Any other ideas on what I need to do to get it up and running would be great.

Thanks michael

If I can I'm going to get some pics for you guys soon. Your going to love what I do to this car.

Thumbs up don't give up brother.

i bought my '62 model after it had sat for 17 years.with a little work she fired up and i'm drivin' her everyday. if it's only running til the gas is burt out of the carb you may need a fuel pump take the line off and turn the swith on if you don't get any fuel shooting out 'try a new pump.
