So anyone got tranny tips for me?
So anyone got tranny tips for me? Plan on keeping motor all stock but would a torque converter change be any benefit? Planned to put a used 100 shot Nos on the wagon a friend said I could have.
Which shift kits is the good kind? Heard B&Ms kit sucks like scooty puff jr? Background on tranny It shifts hard and firm like it should but if I sits at like the bank or at a light to long in gear, it start to rev 2nd out real high before it goes into 3rd. Have check for vac leaves, new vac modulator, have done a flush n fill with new filter. It seemed to slowly get worse with the more stops Id make with it in gear and would start doing the same thing going from 1st to 2nd. Had to drive home with only 2nd several times and only 1st once, but the next day it would act fine till I made 4-5 stops in gear. It always works fine the next day. And seemed to do it more as it got warmer out. But what I have found out is as long as I up n down shift at a stop, or toss into N at long lights it won't do that. Besides that it works great, good firm hard shift. I installed a ratchet shifter in it so I can shift up n down easy. So now it never happens as long as I don't sit in gear to long. Was gonna try n ask some local shop what they think. If it can be fixed on the car id let them play but if its gotta come out I wanna make sure its built right. |

I don't think modifying the Electra is a hot topic for any of us, but careful with the " juice," these engines were not really built for this, also not knowing the year, mileage and condition leaves us blank. How do we know if this is fwd 3.8 or??? This is your concern for now, not how many responses.

What year car? Lucas oil makes a great tranny product, It helps bring back the clutch disks and bands. I've had really good luck with it. And changing the torque converter with only changes the stall speed. ie the amount of revolutions the converter needs to add forward power. 2800 to 3000 is sick for american cars. its prob at like 1500 right now.

Re: So anyone got tranny tips for me?
modding an electra unless its from the sixties is not worth the money. There are so many sick cheap cars out there. Lincoln MK VIII are $5000 heavier cobras! And unless you do some major motor work NOS is gonna be cool for 2 times you get from the weak pushrod v-6. Find a supercharger off a riviera that would be cool What ever floats your boat. U must just got grandpas car and ur drivers license.
