2006 Pacifica AWD Thump from front end
i have a 06 pacifica that has been making a "thumpping" noise from the front end. I jacked it up and inspected suspension to find loos tie rod ends.
Replace inner and outer on both sides but still have the noise. Only hear it when i hit bumps, on smooth surface i dont hear anything. Ball Joints appear to be fine, sway bar end links are solid, but the sway bar bushing that mount to the frame appear to have some slop in them, would this cause the thumppin? While looking at all this i noticed a small leak from what appears to be coming from the water pump area? Checked coolent and it was about a half gallon low. This morning i started it to warm up, ran for about 30 min and when i got back in it was blowing cold air, the motor temp was reading normal but blowing cold air from vents then when it put it in drive and started to take off it started to blow warm air and did so from then on???? |

look at this thread. I had a friend stop bye to check her front-end noise. I couldn't pin piont the noise in this 14 deg weather.I told her it might be strut mounts becuase of a pinging noise during turing.I also found lots of play coming from lower control arm rear bushing (fire wall side) more on the passenger side than driver side, awaiting warmer weather. Please post your results. Good luck |

Re: 2006 Pacifica AWD Thump from front end
I checked the control arm bushings and appeared to be fine and no play. I'm considering possible strut issue and going to look into them this weekend. I am going to replace the worn sway bar bushings as well and see if that helps. I'll keep ya posted. Thanks

Well the noise is gone, I changed the sway bar bushings today and it fixed it. No more thumping or anything.
