Engine Shakes

In my '96 Corsica, my engine has been undoubtably put through a lot of stress. I only got this got about two weeks ago, and ever since I got this car it has been shaking. At first, I thought it was the tires that needed balancing. But, it even shakes just a little when it's in park. It usually doesn't shake too much until it reaches about 30 mph. Then, it levels off, and then it starts back again at about 40 mph. This is what usually happens. Sometimes it shakes all the time, and also when I'm going uphill.

Another problem, the car makes a sound when I some bumps going slow. The sound is like metal on metal, or maybe even metal bending. I'm thinking it's the shocks, so I probably need to have it checked out. I just wanted to know if you guys could possibly give me some info. Thanks to all.

Re: Engine Shakes

sounds like bad engine mount(s)/tranny mount(s)
get someone to hold the brakes down and shift it between n and d . you should be able to find the bad mounts fairly easily just find the one thats clunking.
