No Tail Lights, No License Plate Lights-Help!

When I pull open the light switch, the headlamps go on. However, the tail lights and the license plate lights will not go on. If, however, I then rotate the autolamp delay flag switch all the way to the right, those rear lights will go on and stay on at night. During the day, the photocell makes them go off. Since they do go on, I know that it is not the bulbs and not the fuse.
Does anyone have any ideas where to look for an answer to the problem?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the auto lamp delay switch.
