Engine Flush *WATER* can I do it?
hey i know people blow their headgaskets all the time and get water in the engine
i want to know if i can flush my motor out while doing an oil change with water i found some tiny chips of metal in the oil pan when i stuck a magnetic stick in there so i want to stick the hose in each cylinder and flush it out with WATER is this ok i'd love to hear some opinions! i was going to drop the pan but im feeling lazy |

I'm thinking water+internals=bad news, unless your rebuilding the motor already. lol I'd just keep that magnetic strip in the bottom of your pan and keep an eye on it. Check it once in a while and see if the metal scrapings are becoming more or less. It sounds to me like something isn't getting lubricated properly. Are you sure there isn't a deeper problem that needs to be solved within your motor?

What do you mean by "slapping around"? What does it sound like exactly?

I'm thinking that if you use water in the engine, then rust and shit will develop? But hey good luck with that.

Re: Engine Flush *WATER* can I do it?
yes i was going to flush hard with a water hose and then
put in about 5 quarts oil and let it flush some of the water out with the 1first quart and then seal any water should evaporate once i turn on the motor correct |

Re: Engine Flush *WATER* can I do it?
Donno... I've never intentionally put water in my motor. lol
I can see cleaning parts with water if they are outside of the car completely. But if you spray water into your motor then your gonna have a problem with getting it started. Ahhh I can see it already. Please don't do it. lol If you wanna run anything through it, buy the cheapest oil you can find and use it instead of water.

Re: Engine Flush *WATER* can I do it?
Besides the fact that its a bad idea water wont wash oil away very well. if your bound and determined to do this use a petroleum based degreaser or something that wont cause a big problem. I used carb cleaner to clean shit, works good, never tried to clean the inside of my motor though

Re: Engine Flush *WATER* can I do it?
There is a write up somewhere about how to properly flush your motor and if I'm not mistaken it's with diesel fuel. Gets rid of old oil deposits. Just search around. I think it's on dsmtuners or vfaq though
