Very British 3 - Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HSR Pond, Brookes
For a long, long time I wanted to build this iconic rally car, since it was very popular around the end of 70's early 80's in Britain. In the hands of such drivers like Tony Pond, Pentti Airikkala and Russell Brookes, it showed its true potential, and could even defeat the mighty army of Escorts on home soils. Unfortunately, because of the rather poor financial bacground, just like the TR7, couldn't fully make it to the international grounds, so it stayed a local british legend.
AMT has issued a model of the Chevrolet Chevette, which would make a good base for the rally version but it is 1/25 scale and the scale difference is very visible. Since I love the shape of the car I looked for alternatives and found that the only solution if I build it myself. So after I finished with the Saab, I started to build the car on Blender, an open source 3D modeling program. It took me couple of weeks, months to understand part of the program and be able to create the Chevette which I can print. After couple of tries and errors, I could make a decent print which will be the base for my builds. I would like to build two cars in paralell, Pond's 81 Manx winner car and Russell Brookes '83 Circuit of Ireland winner car. Still long way to go! |

Bravo!!!!!
My small advice is to print angled (ex. 45° with the tail behind), anyway looks nice!

Thanks Chris, Gio! In fact it goes quick once you get a good experience with blender. Most of the parts are basic shapes, only the body and the Corbeau seats are more complex. Not much left to build, I hope to print them soon

I finally managed to print all the parts, except the rollcage. Now the fun begins, painting and assembling the model
