95 tbird stranded huge puddle of tranny fluid
It seems to be coming above the tyranny mount drivers side. Too hot to check. Any ideas? I'm still 200 miles from home. :-(

How big is a huge puddle? And has the car stopped, or doe it still run? Get the dip stick out and check the level. It may be something simple that will let you get home, but with out some more information we can't really help.

Re: 95 tbird stranded huge puddle of tranny fluid
Its quite huge. The dip stick don't even read fluid. It still runs but its pouring out faster that I can pour it in. I pulled off in a park n ride. It was dripping down the back of the pan by the mount. Hoping its something simple but with my luck I doubt it. I still have. 160 miles till I'm home. :-(

Sounds like you maybe calling for a long haul tow.
I can only suggest you check simple things, like the drain and refill plugs are in and tight Also check the tube that holds the dip stick hasn't come out. Otherwise it's likely to be something more involved, thats going to need a lift and some tools to fix.

Re: 95 tbird stranded huge puddle of tranny fluid
Problem found. It blew the gasket there the tail shaft and the transmission connect. One question I have is I can't seem to get the bolts connecting the driveshaft to the deafened. Are they reverse threaded??? Dont seem right they would be on that damn tight!

Turn counter-clockwise to loosen. Be sure to use a 6 point socket or wrench to avoid rounding the heads.

Re: 95 tbird stranded huge puddle of tranny fluid
I've been beating on them for a day and a half and not one broke loose yet figured I'd double check. I've Never seen any bolt this tight except on the front axle shaft on my truck!!! 3 knuckles and 2 wrenches later and still 4 bolts to go. Grrr

You could also use a heat wrench (torch) if the kroil doesn't work.

Re: 95 tbird stranded huge puddle of tranny fluid
I've once had to put a big breaker bar on the driveshaft bolts, put the car on the jack, take the axle stands out, and lower the car, using it's weight on the breaker bar to under each nut.
It takes a while, putting the axle stands in and out to be safe, but it works very well. Just make sure you have a good socket so it's doesn't round of the bolt, and you have the bar going in the right direction.
