Who recemends a place to buy a reman head

Hello guys. About a year and a half ago, I rebuilt the engine in my 1991 Geo Metro, 1.0 liter and at 28,000 after the rebuild, it already has a burned valve. Well, the head, I bought as a reman, on Ebay and I always ran 10W-30 oil in it as required. My guess is, it has a faulty lifter in it that contributed to the problem. Can anyone recemend a good place to buy a remanufactured head, so I don't have to deal with this issue again? I don't want to put the car down for very long, so, I'll just go with this option, besides, the reman head I bought wasn't quite right, because it didn't have the PCV inlet where the intake manifold mounts on.

How about one with stainless steel valves and a camshaft grind of your choice.........

Try Jasper Engine & transmission. They will guarantee their products. I've also used advance and NAPA auto's in a pinch.

Originally you could run either 5w/30 or 10w/30. But later chevrolet put out a TSB indicating that you should only use 5w/30. Something to do with the lifters and the heavier oil 10w/30 when the engine is cold. They don't leak down fast enough or stay pumped up or something like that. I know many like the heavier oils, but apparently it's not a good idea in these engines. There is alot of talk about this over on teamswift.com

Yea, I have ran only 10W-30 or lower, in this thing, because I have learned about the lifter problems and valve burnings. I think I just got a head with a faulty lifter in it, because 22,000 is a bit soon for a valve to go out, in a reman head, I would think. Maybe I should use 5W-30 in the summer and 5W-20 in the winter.

Have you looked at the Threads at the top of the forum as you enter it ?

The "Official Metro Parts Mail Order List" labeled IMPORTANT ?

Perhaps ROCKAUTO has a head.

Well, it looks like my best option here is to replace the exhaust valves and have the seats resurfaced. Since the head is remanufactured, I won't have to worry about the guides. I happen to have a brand new set of valves sitting here in a box I bought in a rebuild kit.
