Just Bought My 1st 300zx!
OK guys, Im new to this forum so this is my 1st posting. I just recently bought a 90' 300zx n/a. I know right off the bat it needs a clutch and most likely a tranny. Any idea where i can find either of those decently priced? I also want to get some insite on good aftermarket parts and what i should upgrade 1st. HELP ME!
Im also going to take some pictures so I can show off my baby. |

read the stickies, they have good information on aftermarket suppliers and ways of modding your z. on the tranny, depends on what you want. do you want a brand new one or do you want a used one. k3smostwanted will know more about this because he is looking for a tranny. how much did you pay for it? how many miles? get pics as soon as possible.

Pix! Pix! Is it a Coupe or 2+2? I would start off with the basics: Intake (BLITZ, JWT), headers (AMZ), and exhaust...

In my best napolean dynamite voice.. "Luuckyy!!"..
Are you sure it's the tranny or just the clutch? How do you know it's the tranny? Post some pics up.. give us some info..

More info on my Z
Its a coupe not a 2 + 2 and it has 114,000 on it. And I paid $1,700. Thats right buddy, $1,700. I'm going to post pictures once its not raining like Hell outside too FYI. And with the tranny, i dont really know if its that going out but I do notice a wierd "clunk" sound when i let off the clutch and shift. And I was just outside grabbin a few things and notice when i drove the car it died, so now im even more worried. Maybe fuel injectors? Ugh, hopefully this car doesnt turn into a endless money pit. Either way, im keepin it.

alright, best place to find trannies is a local wrecking yard...if they dont have one, they can usually call other local yards and have on shipped with hardly any shipping charge to you. if you contact some wrecking yards and they cant get you anything...then i suggest you go to a couple of the following sites i list below and contact them. they are all japanese car importers...also check out your best friend EBAY. sometimes do a TT swap leaving their n/a transmission for sale.
also, get ready to do your 60k mile timing belt changed... otherwise, good luck...about the car dying. i would give it a good tune up and then go from there. http://venus-auto.com/inventory/niss...2-vg30t-fc.htm http://mitsuparts.net/ also, check out the twinturbo.net classified sections. there should be someone on there selling a transmission.

Re: Just Bought My 1st 300zx!
welcome nocturnal, i just got my 1990 300zx n/a a month ago ... working on her becomes addictive.. my auto tranny seems to be having a clutch problem too... if you ever race her i strongly recommend putting the windows up, but thats obvious

Re: Just Bought My 1st 300zx!
hah! well i got her for 3k, 500 down and 300 a month... came with greddy body kit, and huge exhaust, 18" eagle rims, sony head.. so i cant take credit for installing that stuff, but i did install gauge cluster face, and component speakers, and changed the oil and coolant myself ... shes my first car... that avatar is a slightly modded pic of her heres the real ones,
http://hometown.aol.com/rendertrust/...atprofile.html .... she is fun to mess with and learn stuff about, theres something about this car that makes you feel like its more than a car, i love her, as soon as i get a job im going to fix her up real nice and beat the local 05 mustang GT |
