Project Update... or not...
Okay...
Project VG30DETT/5 speed 2+2 Drifter... Status: Canned! Project RB25DET/5 speed Drifter... Status: Canned... better suited for a Z31 maybe... I'll come back to this one. Project VG32DE Stroker... Status: Too Expensive!!! Y'sure... wanna sponsor me and give me $12,000? Way too expensive in the long run... Project VG30DETT 2+2... kinda funny that I ended up back here. Although this time I'm thinking of going JDM engine and staying AT. Or not? Status: ??? I dunno guys... I never have been so wishy-washy on just one project! Sometimes I think... Shit: Just do the usual NA upgrades and forget about it. Headers, hi-flow-cats, catback exhaust, UD pulleys. I already have my BLITZ SUS intake and HKS ALC. I'm thinking if I also add nitrous (NOS system 50 shot) and install and tune with a APEX'i SAFC-II... along with all the other mods... I should be getting some decent power and ET's? What do you guys think?

i think you should make up your mind chief!!!
TT swap sounds good...by the time you sink all that money into your N/A engine on bolt-ons, you could have had a TT swap pushing more power and ready for even more power... atleast thats my opinion on the subject. hence i am attempting to do the VG30DETT/5-speed route... but what i would really like to see you do...the RB25DET swap. its different, its a great engine, it has just as much (more) potential than the VG...

Re: Project Update... or not...
Go the VG30DETT/5 speed, just not for drifting.
Or you could throw a supercharger on top of your existing NA. -Mike |

Re: Project Update... or not...
George just do the simple mods and get it over with bro
You've changed your damn mind so many times you just need to do something at least... Do simple mods, and get a 5Speed swap done... Simple and effective. -Wes

Re: Project Update... or not...
Hmm... I would I get a SC on my engine w/o spending big-bucks? My brother actually found a system for his NA Rx7... why not for an NA Z?

Re: Project Update... or not...
Yeah, I must say that looking at the engine when its on the stand makes it seem so much simpler.
You'd get rid of the whole intake manifold, and throw on an adaptor to the supercharger. If you get some intakes from the supercharger fabbed up right, you could probably even get the throttle bodies right where they used to be before, hence eliminating the need for an entire new intake. So far we're probably looking at $1500-$2000 AUD (i think thats about $1000-1400 or so USD), cheaper if you can find a used supercharger somewhere. Then all you really need to do is get the ecu chipped for the charger (a mod in itself anyway) and thats all that really needs to be done. You may need to cut a hole in your bonnet (hood) though, and put a bigger bulge in. ZGringo, please step in if i've missed anything major. 8) -Mike |

Just got here Mike and you've got it right, and you'll be able to make as much or more power than a TT with the same mods and less stress on the engine.
Now if you really want to have fun, just drop a VH45 in it and go really fast and keep the dandruff out of your hair. And if you want to go really, REALLY fast, try a VK56DE and be done with it. But then you could consider a 240Z with a VH45DE and....ah fuck it toooo many choices, just like Baskin an Robbins |

Re: Project Update... or not...
i think it'd be fairly easy to slap a supercharger on a z31... wouldn't you? just remove the a/c and toss the belt on there and re-run the intake pipe to the s/c and then to the stock position.... not that i'm getting any ideas... mine's got WAY too high of mileage to even think about forced induction..
as for you 1via, just slap on s/c's and be done with it!
