Can I put a 5-speed in an 84 Fiero?
Hi Everyone,
I have an 84 fiero with the 4-speed transmission and I would like to install a 5-speed. I was thinking about the Isuzu 5-speed from the 85+ years, but I haven't been able to find anything that tells me for sure that I can do this. Everything says they are swappable with 85-88 cars. I don't know if I just didn't look in the right place, or you can't do this. Does anyone know? Thanks |

Re: Can I put a 5-speed in an 84 Fiero?
Yes, they do. To pull it off (correctly, without any hacks, tweaks, or other home-brewed mods you may or may not be skilled enough to make) you need to swap the cables and shifter as well.
Kick Hill can put together a complete swap kit for you with all the required parts. Just call for a quote. Muncie 5 speed swaps (common for 85 2.8L v6 cars with 4 speeds), are $1200 + freight, the less popular isuzu will most likely cost a considerable amount less.
