04 impala no AC
Hello,
I have an 04 impala and have no AC - had to happen with this 90 degree weather! I did check all the fuses and they look good... I am wondering could it be the blower and how can I tell, before I waste time and money taking it to the garage... any help greatly appreciated!! |

Re: 04 impala no AC
If the a/c led is on with the switch engaged the control side is probably ok.
most common reason for no a/c clutch engagement is low refridgerant charge so I would check this first. If high side is below 35psi the bcm will withhold a/c request. Assuming you don't have gauges to check static pressure. check for dtc p0530 which will set if pressure is too high or low to operate. View the voltage parameter for the pressure switch if you have a scan tool or measure the voltage at the pressure switch signal wire with a dvom. Need to have between 0.09-4.90 V for the system to work. low voltage means low system pressure and high voltage equals high system pressure. backprobe the red/blk wire at the pressure switch with koeo. believe the pressure sensor is located on the evap inlet tube near the acuumulator. should be a three wire connector with a gray 5v feed wire. black ground wire and red/blk signal wire. If the pressure is ok then check your switch. |

Re: 04 impala no AC
Your post said you had no A/C. Not clear on what your concern is? That the blower fan doesn't shut off??

Re: 04 impala no AC
Sorry folks, guess I need to clarify.
My AC does get cold, but the fan does not work.... I checked all the fuses and they are fine... I am thinking it is the blower... but was looking to see if anyone knows where it is located, so I can try to peek and see if I can fix, before I take to garage... |

Re: 04 impala no AC
So...the blower doesn't work at any speed with or without a/c on. Is that right? Manual or Auto hvac?
the blower motor is located in the r/f passenger footwell. remove the insulator panel and tada. Put the key in run, engine off, blower on high and hit the motor sharply with a closed fist; if the blower works the motor brushes are worn and it needs a new blower motor. |
