351/400m Burning Oil But no smoke?
Hey It,s Phil I got a 75 Chero It has a burning oil scent as of recently, My oil pan also leaks.
I think my engine needs some work and my exhaust system is just worn out.. which explains the lingering odor. What could be the problem? AZ says on there site it could be worn piston rings, leaking head gasket, etc |

Probably bad/old valve stem seals, see In the Car Valve stem seal replacement.

Re: 351/400m Burning Oil But no smoke?
I would expect it would be a combination of things; worn rings (mostly the oil control rings), worn valve stems and senile stem seals, worn crankshaft seals; Plus any leaks from the oil pan. If the engine were in good shape, the oil pan would be dry or rusty - not oily.

pcv has a one way valve, might want to see if it is there, Also the oil filler may need a gasket. when was the last time you changed the oil?
may want to warm up engine and spray degreaser on it then rinse, (be careful that it is not "hot" as you could crack the engine block.)this way you can see any leaks.
