R/C Nitro car novice needs help w/ idle speed adjustment.
hey guys..i just got a nitro 4x4 offroad buggy from my big bro for xmas. i used to have an Enzo 4x4 onroad car but my bro let it get out of range and it went HEAD ON INTO A CURB AT FULL SPEED. completely destroying everything but the engine.
here are a few pics of the buggy: Check the suspension travel. it can lay frame! lol now on to my question: I was in the process of adjusting the idle speed...and i tell ya i had it AALLMOST perfect. so i backed out the screw another 1/8 turn. when i started the engine again...the idle speed for some reason seemed to jump way up...as if i was trying to increase the idle speed. but i wasnt. i backed out the screw again another 1/8 turn, started it, and the same thing happened. after this i put everything back in the garage to let the engine cool...since i was still breaking in the engine. if it means anything, i had the car on the ground. the car just vibrates off of a brick...and i tried c-clamping it to the frame of my dad's utility trailer(like i did with my old one) but there wasnt enough room for the c-clamp w/ out blocking the steering servos. u guys are OBVIOUSLY alot more expierenced than i am, and i GREATLY appreciate any help u can offer. THANX! |

Re: R/C Nitro car novice needs help w/ idle speed adjustment.
are you sure you touched the idle and not the low speed needle? sounds like you leaned the low end, which would cause the idle to jump.
I say this because you said you backed out the screw, backing out the screw would lower the idle (not raise it).
