viper 10 and others who know a lot about the viper

Hey! I am thinking about buying a viper here in the next year or so. I was thinking about a 2001. Do you have any advice? Things I should look for? Problems with the 2001? Should I pick a different model year. I really don't want to spend over $60k. I figure by around this time next year the 2001's will be around $60k. Also, have any of you viper owners checked this out:
http://www.gm-cars.com/ART_C6scoop.shtml
highlights:
standard C6 400 HP around 2800 lbs
C6 Z06 500HP camless engine 2800lbs or lighter
interesting read. electronic valve train..holy grail of the automotive world...things are getting interesting. I am just glad to see the big three getting very serious about taking on ferrari, porsche, etc....very cool!!! :smoka:

well viper 10 had said he was looking at the GT40 and I'm trying to decide between waiting for a C6 Z06 or picking up a 2001 viper in about a year.

You'll have to wait longer than a year for the ZXX version of the C6. The C6 won't even be out in a year...

The technology list to that article are very interesting. I have read the article, and I have doubts that GM will do all this to the Z, because of their undying commitment to being cheap.

If the ZXX version of the C6 comes to market with half of that list, it'll be a formidible competitor and performer.
