1988 fiero se been sitting for 20+ years. Brake issues
I bled the brake. And they work fine under light load but if you need to stop fast it feels like you have no power brakes at all.

If you continue to drive that car you are going to die, it will kill you. Any car left sitting over 2 decades is going to be a nightmare.
So let's say you do get this issue with the brakes sorted out, what's next? Who knows what else is going to go wrong that just hasn't yet.

The under bodies of these cars were known to rust out, if the car was from a salt area, like New England....
Did you ever have this put on a lift and inspected from below? |

Brake booster diaphrams tend to go hard after a while. Could have a vacuum leak to the booster. Brake pistons could be gooped up in the bores.
My '88 Formula brakes never worked well when cold. Worked fine when warmed up. Oh well... Oh yeah, never was an SE in '88. Lineup was-- Fiero -- notchback with 4 cyl, Formula-- notchback with V6, GT-- sloped nose, fastback with V6. |

It's for the love of the car!!! This little car is actually worth putting money into to fix up. God I loved my Fiero. I looked like a whale in a sardine can, but it was a great car!!!!! You're most likely gonna have to replace the entire brake system, Booster, Master, Calipers, drums, ect.... Sitting this long, you have an uphill battle, but if the car body is solid, it's a sound investment! just my 5 cents |

Re: 1988 fiero se been sitting for 20+ years. Brake issues
After sitting 20 years a lot of rubber things dry up and need to be replaced. The Fieros that I own get a lot of maintenance money spent on them. The last time I have taken my cars (two of the three I own) to the shop there has been a $1500 tab for repairs. My 87 GT is going in in a couple of weeks as It hasn't been driven much since last year and I plan on a road trip in September. I've had the car since new and with 155+K miles on the car it gets lots of maintenance. I know that the DS axel boot is leaking and may get new wires, plugs and what ever else it may need.
