2001 Prizm radiator fans not working
Hi, first time on a forum. I did alot of reading on this site and found plenty of good information from good hearted people. So I decided to see if I can get some help.
Yesterday on my way home from work, I got stuck in some traffic. Had the window down and started to get a little warm so I rolled it up and turned the A/C on. The air came out kinda warm and I glanced at the water temp and saw that it was almost to the red, a place I had never seen it go. I quickly got off the highway and into a gas station. I noticed on my short drive that the temp dropped back to almost normal. I got out and looked under the hood to see if there was anything obvious. The only thing that looked like it might be a problem was that the dual fans on the radiator were not on, which I thought was kinda strange since the temp was so high. I stayed put for about 15 minutes for the traffic and the temp to go down. I was only about 7 miles from home and took off. I kept an eye on the temp and saw that it never got above the normal again. This morning I checked the antifreeze and reservoir and saw nothing wrong. I even used a gauge I have to check the level of antifreeze protection and all was good. So I cranked it up and ran it in the driveway for 15 minutes to see if it would overheat again. Nope. But the radiator fans never came on. So I wrote this small novel to ask the questions: 1. Was it just a glitch? 2. Did the fans just stop working? 3. Could it be a fuse or relay and if so, where is that relay? I can't figure out which one it is. Thank you for any answers! |
