97 Pontiac Bonnevile transmission issue
I am working on a 97 Pontiac Bonneville with a 3.8 series II. I have a violent shake in 1st and 2nd gears right at 2200-3000 RPM on light acceleration and the trans is slipping in 3erd and 4th gear above 2000 RPM. 1st gear is strong and seems to work fine, except will not shift into 2nd unless you let of the gas pedal. 2nd gear will grab under light acceleration but will slip under heavy acceleration. 3erd and 4th gear will slip over 2000 RPM, the fluid is full, no signs of metal but the fluid is dark in color, no code, or pending codes are present. I know that the TCC solenoid will cause the shake and there are TSB'S out on the pressure control solenoid but can either of these two solenoids cause my slipping condition? I am not sure if I should pull off the side cover and drop the 100 bucks on solenoids, or get a rebuilt trans? If anyone has run across this issue you reply will be very helpfull. Thanks

Re: 97 Pontiac Bonnevile transmission issue
Or look into a reman from Jasper or GM,Jasper has a 3 year 100,00 mile warranty.A rebuilt transmission has a 6 month warranty.

Re: 97 Pontiac Bonnevile transmission issue
I ended up finding a trans from a junk yard for $300 with only 46,000 miles on it (So they said) put it in and it solved the problem
