noticed sticking valves during valve job?
ok in a nutshell...66 olds 425. water got into engine and sat for a couple months. motor was stuck. i pulled the heads and soaked the crank and pistons etc...motor is free now
i figured id better do a valve job on the heads as a few of the valves looked pretty bad. pulled the valves and only a few were pretty rough. i havent lapped valves in a long time so my question is... a couple of the valve i notice the valve stems are sticking...had to tap the valves out and when i try to turn them with the compound they get stuck or wont spin at all. they for really tight in the valve guides. what can i do to fix that? are my valves bent? they dont look it when held up to a flat guide. i only did one head so far and only 2 valves are like this. any advice or suggestions? thanks in advance |

I would say use afew drops of automatic transmission fluid on the stems and guides. Cleans them up really good and its light enough to prevent sticking.
