Engine <610cc
URGENT!! - >Me and my pals are currently designing a formula car for a competition, but the rules have constrained the engine to be under 610cc. And this has us stumped, because getting an engine under that to suit our needs is proving difficult. I need suggestions to what engine must i use and from which vehicle. Is going for a sportbike engine an option that i must consider?? Anyone with a solution please reply to this, we are working on a schedule and need to zero in on our engine fast.

if i wish to directly obtain an mint engine from the manufacturer, is that possible? Also i heard that the gsx had cooling issues.

Re: Engine <610cc
Sure, it would be a lot more expensive than to buy a used one and rebuild it though.

Re: Engine <610cc
Overall, i think an older 600cc motorcycle engine would be best since they are carb'ed and not fuel injected. You wont have to deal with all the electronics of fuel injected motors s it would be easier to apply to your project.

Re: Engine <610cc
Thanks a lot , but we had some budget issues that came up at a really unfortunate time. We had to settle in for a 500cc cruiser bike engine, though we arent able to get the high bhp that we desired, we are able to do moderately well. Hope my project goes on as planned and we dont face any more surprises. Another query that i had was would it be better to go for sheet metal for body panels or look for composites as we desire to have the minimum possible weight without compromising stability of the car and maintaining optimum aerodynamic performance? Kindly revert back with an opinion as soon as possible.
