decisions decisions...
for the money i have, i can either afford an 88 300z or a supra. ive been researching the supras a bit, and was planning on getting one, but then another option had to come up! id just like some information on the car itself. both cars turboed have around the same hp and torque, so it comes down to upgrades. does the 300z have less potential than the supra? also, i know the next gen of 300z was real complicated, and just to change the spark plugs you have to take off the top of the engine, so a supra would be easier to work on myself. does the 300z have a rear seat? i know the 2+2 model does, but does the turbo model lose the back seat like the a 91 TT would? also, hows the realiability of the 300z? i know the supras only flaw is the head gasket is undertorqued, but other than that the car goes forever. plus, any additional information on the 88 300z would be much appreicated. thank you all in advance.

Re: decisions decisions...
Nissan only made JDM turbo 2+2 300zx (in both z31 and z32) so unless you want to import a 300zx, or do the swap yourself, you're probably only going to find 2 seater turbos.
As for which is better, honestly speaking (I know quite a few zed nuts are going to go off at me) they're both about the same in performance, upgradability etc. Toyota make great engines, but so do Nissan. Personally though, I'd get a 84-87 turbo because they're cheaper and in my opinion the back looks nicer. Around here the 84-87 turbos go for about $3k less than supras. All in all, go with whichever you can find a great deal for, or whichever one you like the looks of better. In terms of performance and build quality, they're both the same, so choose something subjective to base your decision on. |

mmmm cookie...
i'd take a good hard look at the zx you want to buy, make sure there isn't much rust on it.. check under the car for it too... personally i like the 87/88 style the best for the z31.. a bit more streamlined than my 86 and better looking taillights.... and if it's an 88, and it's white, and there's white wheels, it could be a shiro limited edition.. so if you could get that for the same price as a mkIII supra then definitely jump on it like you just threw the pin and the nade dropped to your feet
