some days are just not my day.....
Well today started well enough. Went to sears picked up a few tools that I wanted, and then did 125 on the way home. Thats where the fun ends...... I decided I would adjust my TPS while it was a nice day. So I went out with tools in hand and volt meter in place and proceeded to get my voltages..... sure enough they were out of spec, so I losened the screws to turn the TPS and *POP* the top screw snaps off at the head in my stubby wratched socket...... NOW I am not happy. So figure I will finish what I started so I losen the lower screw and whew its still strong and fine. I give the TPS a slight turn clockwise and check voltages, well they move into spec or at least as close as I wanted to go. But now heres the best news, my idle is sitting at around 2k now out of gear.... and 1100 in gear. Hmmm maybe all that fuel that got dumped into the engine while I was doing the turning didnt help. Well I tightened up the bottom screw and locked it in place, luckly the bottom screw is holding it so it wont shift, but now I have to yank my throttlebody and try and tap out a screw and then find a replacement.... then do it all again! Sometimes I hate it when everything goes wrong on a nice day. I hope I can get its idle back down to normal before monday, I would hate to drive to work without my foot on the gas. lol :/
Any ideas if its just the excess fuel causeing the idle or is it that the TPS is gone bad. Man I just hope its the fuel. BTW I found my fuel leak....... I aint going to fix it anytime soon, I hate dealing with those little clamps on the fuel lines from the filter that and its not bad no drip just moisture.

also try this. when its idling, try tapping the throttle real hard but really fast, one time...this usually makes my idle fall back down to normal when its high. id try it... BTW: i broke off a screw when i was changing internal wiring harnesses in my Z31's transmission. so the ground bolt was broke off right behind the pan...yeah, that was a b****. try using a extractor bit before you go pulling the plenum off. luckily, mine came out with a extractor bit and then i re-drilled and re-threaded the whole...whatever works right???

Re: some days are just not my day.....
I might be able to get a small bit into the screw and back it out.
I will try what you said. But I aint messing with the idle screw. If its the TPS I will just order a new one. No biggy.

There's an old saying Mr.Hodo, it goes like this,"Cheer up, things could be worse, so I cheered up, and guess what? Things got worse!!
Hope you get things worked out. Even you, don't need that kinda crap to happen, but better you than me. |

Re: some days are just not my day.....
Well fixed the TPS and got the TPS adjusted propperly.... now I just have to wait for the ECU to relearn and bring the idle back down. It sits at around 2300 when in park or neutral and 1100-1200 when in gear. But throttle responce is good and all other RPM/speeds are normal and with in spec. Even with 1 screw holding the TPS in place till I can tap the old screw part out and rethread the hole. I just think now my idler screw got screwed with some how. I am going to take a look at it in a few minutes and see.

Re: some days are just not my day.....
Well got the car at the correct idle. And I started thinking about supercharging the Z......
I know I know, I am a NA man, but hmmm I have YET to see a super Z, so I am thinking I will build one. After calling several companys that make superchargers for the 350Z and other Nissans, I found Powerdyne... more I found a guy who works with powerdyne who can possibly work up something. I will be getting him some pictures of my engine bay and some of the finner specs on the cars engine bay room. Hopefully we can get one up and working. The only issue is he is in Cali and I am in North Carolina. :/

Why not call up Z1motorsports? they are closer and you could pitch them the idea of supercharging a Z32! Good luck!!

My friend told me about supercharger kits for the Z32. Probably pretty sick.
