MR2 Vs Diablo
My MR2 is in bad shape at the moment. Mostly caused by previous owners dislect. I am determined to get up to the best with time though.
Anyway, I just wanted to know, if I added the best mods to my 87 MK1, how would it fare in a drag or sprint race with a new factory standard diablo. I raced a work-mate of mine for a short stretch. He had a Porsche 911. I was winning till about 40 /50 mph, at which point he hammered me. Either he was bad with the gears or I was faster at accelarating at slower speeds. I doubt I will be installing jet engines on this MK1, but want to know if there is any way mods will make this car exceed the diablo in speed and accelaration, while keeping it street legal? |

markone: start your own thread.
Rogue Spear: you probably can't get a higher top end, as most mr2 compatable trannies are the limiting factor... in the 1.5 i hit the rev limiter. and sadly, with ~250 hp in a mk 1, it isn't faster than a Diablo VT. However, it is faster than a Gallardo

Re: MR2 Vs Diablo
With enough time and money you can make a skateboard faster than a Diablo ... how often do you think you will get a chance to race one though?

Toysport built a 1989 MKI Supercharger some years ago using the HKS Twincharger (turbocharging the already supercharged 4A). I think it ran low 12s or high 11s. I'd just use a single turbo and ditch the sc but you'll need 20+ psi. Its probably not going to happen without a turbo.
