01 Jimmy 4WD Strange Electrical Issue
My 01 Jimmy has a strange electrical issue. The other day the blower motor on the HVAC would not work. Then it just turned on while driving.
Last night my wife was driving home and the wipers didn't work. She tried to clean the windshield and the washer fluid sprayed the window, but no wipers. Had to pullover at gas station and squeegee the window. This morning I went out to check if the James was still having the issue and it was (no wipers or blower on HVAC), I pull cover off electrical distribution box, checked fuses and relays and tapped on a few, and all seemed fine, but still no wipers or Blower. Checked fuses in the dash and all were good. So i was thinking what else to check then i heard a click and the blower came on as well as the wipers. New battery a few months ago. The alternator may be going but put out 14.5V while running. The alternator is getting noisy though. think bearings may be starting to fail. Here are the issues again: No wipers No Blower on HVAC Flickering head lights and interior lights Wipers seem to be struggling when they do work. (Slow moving) Any thoughts would be appreciated. Hope you all had a Great Holiday. |

When checking fuses check for 12 volts on both sides. Check alt output voltage and amps.

Re: 01 Jimmy 4WD Strange Electrical Issue
Thanks MT-2500
It was the ground connection on the Left side of engine compartment mounted right by the cruise control module. Had a bad connection. Cleaned off terminals and works great now. Even solved my slow moving wiper problem. |

Re: 01 Jimmy 4WD Strange Electrical Issue
Good find.
You are welcome and thanks for posting back what you found. As you found grounds are as important as power feed. When having problems with anything like that I always check both. Good luck
