Wheel Problems
Hey Guys and Gals,
I've got an issue that I need some help with. I've got an '04 3.9L Mustang. My husband drives it as a work car. A couple weeks ago the driver side front wheel got hot and smelled like it was burning. Well, we thought it was the wheel bearings cause we knew they were going bad anyways so we replaced them. Husband didn't drive it anymore, until last night, came home this morning, and halfway through his interstate drive set on cruise it did it again. Started shaking and came home with the same wheel hot and smelling again. We don't know if the caliper is locking up? Or if it is the abs? No lights no nothing coming on when it happens. Need some input please!!! We running out of options on vehicles here LOL. This problem is driving me nuts and I'm crazy when it comes to figuring out one of my cars problems. hahaha |

Re: Wheel Problems
Check to see if the LF brake rotor is discolored, like black or blue,(compare it to the RF rotor). Possibly the brake caliper is seizing up OR LF brake hose to caliper failing internally. If you can get it to happen when you're on a back road with no traffic around, (like 10 MPH max. I would never try this at highway speeds), whip the steering wheel back and forth while maintaining steering control,no foot on he brake pedal. If it frees up I'd say the caliper is seizing up. If not I'd go with the hose. If so I'd change both LF and RF brake hoses. They're a lot cheaper.
