thermostat help

ok so i got a electric water pump on my 86 gt. and i need to repace the water neck gasket. so my question is do u really need a thermostat, what if i were to take it would my engine run cooler because there is always water moving or what. thanks.

No, actually it would probably overheat. With no t-stat there is no restriction. You need that restriction to back water up in the radiator so that it has time to cool off. Without the t-stat the water will just keep circulating at a rate where the fan(s) cant keep up and you will wind up running hot.
