ignition timing

can anyone tell me what the timing should be on a '93 golf 2.0 with an automatic trans and a/c. thanks

Re: ignition timing

The fine tuning of the ignition timing is performed by the ECM. If you pull the cap, rotor & dust shield you will see a small notch in the top of the distributor housing. With the engine set on TDC #1 the rotor should be centered over this notch, the ECM takes over from there. If they are not aligned you must reset the position of the timing belt. Note, the V notch on the flywheel is not TDC, it is the small O beside it that is TDC.
