3.9 enjine swap thoughts and remarks appreciated
Anyone swapped a 3.9 into a mid 2000s malibu that had the 3.6,
Son in laws dad is 70, wrecked his 07 impala ltz with the 3.9 yesterday. It only had 50000 miles, car is totaled, but motor and trans is fine, found a clean 2008 malibu ltz with a blown 3.6,enjine Was hopeing some one here could tell me how much trouble to swap over the 3.9 Thanks in advance |

Anything can be swapped with enough time, effort, and money. With that said I did some searching and it doesn't look it it's been done, or if it has it hasn't been documented. Ther are lots of people asking about swapping 3.5's and 3.9's, but no actual posts of someone doing it.
With newer cars the biggest issue is the electronics. Making BCM's properly talk to ECM's and TCM's just so a car will start is a huge hurdle.
