1994 Transport Fuel Problem

1994 Pontiac Transport 3.8. Turn key on fuel pump does not go on. Crank car for 10 + seconds and car starts. If restarted within 5 min ok, longer than I have to crank it for at least 10 sec. before it starts. Took fuel pressure test and got a reading of less than 5 psi. Replaced fuel pump at gas tank and results are the same. Cannot hear fuel pump when key is turned on but after cranking for a while car starts. Tried testing pressure regulator but cant get pressure up without starting car. Anyone else have this prob.?

Re: 1994 Transport Fuel Problem

Fuel pump relay is broken. When you crank the engine long enough, fuel pump gets power through oil pressure sender, and engine starts. I dont't have books available right now to look where the relay is located. Hope this helps a little....

Re: 1994 Transport Fuel Problem

Bought Haynes Manual for Transport and it showed where pump relay was. Tested by connecting 12 volts to gray wire. Fuel pump came on so I changed relay and car works great. Thanks for your help
