2003 buick lesabra tire monitor is junk
i have a 2003 Buick lesabra
it has the gauge cluster you can flip through i found the tire pressure sensor is junk my one tire went down to 20 or so no alarm what 5 pounds or less and it wont tell which tire i called my shop a charge to get it set to the right pressure for half the price walmart has those caps that show pressure im getting those my dad says try them and there cheaper than the shop how expensive a car do you have to but to have the readout on all four i seen it once and why put a monitor that does nothing on this car even if the right pressure you play which tire is it beats me on of those things in life i guess

Re: 2003 buick lesabra tire monitor is junk
As you scroll through the data list in the DIC, you should get pressure readings for each tire.......the problem occurs when the tires are rotated.....every time the tires are rotated, the tire positions have to be relearned.....if they aren't then the readings you get from the DIC (driver information center) will be wrong.....for example, the DIC may show the LF tire has 25 psi.....you check it with a gauge, and it reads 30 psi......turns out, maybe the LR tire may have 25 psi, even though the DIC shows 30 psi......this is because the tire positions were not relearned during a rotation....

really cheap pressure gauge. Under $3, any auto parts store. Check them yourself once a month. If you are the drive and forget, that why folks buy new cars every 3-5yrs. No preventive maintenance. Modern cars will go well over 100K if you take care of them.

Re: 2003 buick lesabra tire monitor is junk
As you already figured out, your system does not specify which tire is low. It's designed to detect differences in wheel speed with the ebcm. It should read "low tire" when one tire is 10psi or more lower then the others. Assuming all tires are set to 35 and one is 20-25, the message should come on. If all the tires are the same, but set too low, it wont come on. So, set all tires pressures, clear the message and drive it. When the "low tire" message comes back on, check all the pressures and see which one is lower than the rest.
There are no individual tire pressure sensors... |

Re: 2003 buick lesabra tire monitor is junk
Thanks for jumping in GMTech1, after rereading his post, I realized the mistake I made, thinking he had pressure sensors in his tires, since he said his tire pressure sensor is junk......
GMTech1 is correct, it is the difference in the speed of the tires that sets the tire warning off, not a pressure sensor.....good pickup GMTech1! |
