Windstar Code P0460
Here is what im pulling up on my 1998 Windstar 3.8L Does anyone know how to fix or troubleshoot this? Thanks - JT
P0460 - Fuel Level Sensor Circuit Malfunction The PCM monitors the fuel level input (FLI) circuit for electrical failure. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified fuel fill percentage in the fuel tank. |

Re: Windstar Code P0460
Could be a bad ground...probably on the fuel level sender unit. Could be the fuel sender is faulty or gunked up with something. Might have something to do with float? - doubt it. Is the fuel gauge giving bad readings? Before I pulled the fuel sender....I'd clear the code...top gas off and watch the gauge/CEL for awhile. Also, I use the trip odo as a backup fuel gauge.

Re: Windstar Code P0460
Could have been a temporary bad signal condition. Try clearing the code with an actron OBDII reader (autozone will do it for free). Then watch it. If the fault is still there, code will come back...I think it's ~ 3 cold starts later.

Re: Windstar Code P0460
I cleared it and at 24 miles it came back. Ford dealer leaked me some info regarding a module behind the stereo that controls fuel issues. They said super common and have replaced a ton on these windstars. He is faxing me info in the AM. I will let ya know what the outcome is. thanks - JT
