Exclamation '93 olds 98 relays

I have been having trouble starting my 1993 Olds 98. Car will turn over but, not getting any fuel. I've left the car sit overnight and come back and tried to start The car will start and act like there was no problem. Car will run fine. Someone told me it might be a fuel pump relay going bad. If so I don't know which of the relays under the hood is the correct one that I could switch out to see if that fixes the problem. Which relay from left to right is the fuel relay? The owner manual does not help, it just tell me where to look, not which is the correct relay......

You should be able to here the fuel pump running when you first turn on the ignition switch ; can you? The pump should run for two seconds and then shut off. This is called the prime mode. (Do not try to start the engine during this test). If the pump is running, you need to check pressure at the fuel rail. BTW, the fuel pump relay is located in the fuse/relay panel under passenger side dash.

Re: '93 olds 98 relays

I had a problem similar to this once before and in my case it was the fuel pump. Just do the test HotZ28 said and if you cant hear the pump prime go to the junkyard and grab a few relays. If you're lucky maybe one of your friends has the same car and you can test it with a relay you know is working.

In my case it was the fuel pump they are fairly easy to change as long as you dont have a full tank of gas like i did. :/

No need to borrow one, you can swap the relay with another one in the same location for test purposes and if the pump runs and the engine starts, buy a new relay to replace the old FP relay.
