Alarm Problems

The alarm on my 2001 Windstar Van goes off at random times for no reason. It only happens when the Van is locked. I recently ordered a new key fob for the Van (not factory Ford issue). Someone told me this could be the problem. Any ideas?

Re: Alarm Problems

I had the same problem finally figured out what it was. The switch that works the light under the hood. At night just after you have turned the car off look under the car or even in through the grill and see if the light is on. The battery saver will turn the light off after 30 minutes or so. Spray the switch with contact cleaner or wd 40 hold down the switch with your finger and set the alarm. If it sets your fine. I had to add a piece of sticky floor protector to the area the switch contacted under the hood it worked for ahwile but the switch is bad and will have to be replaced. Hope it works.
