Exclamation Weird transmission Problem

Hi there Forum readers

I own a 95 Windstar
Had the problem with the domelight thank God for WD 40

Now to my rescent problem. When getting in my car i started her up and tried to switch gears nothing... i could not move the gear shifter out of park while car was running. I can turn her off changing gears just fine but as soon as i start i cannot get it out of park. I tried and started in Neutral from there i can get into any gear and the car behaves just fine; but if i put in park i cant get back out unless i turn off and put her back in neutral and start her up.

Any ideas? i havent noticed anything unusual before this i mean like any warning signs of faulty transmission.

Im desperate going on a 1000 mile drive in a month need help

Re: Weird transmission Problem

Check your brake lights. This vehicle is equipped with a "shift interlock" that prevents the gear selector from being moved unless you are depressing the brake pedal (for safety). If the brake switch fails, the wire breaks at the switch, or the fuse blows, you CANNOT shift from "P" with the key in the "RUN" position.
