1971 Mustang - new headers?
Hi
I am new to this forum and recently purchased a 1971 Mustang convertible with "M 351C-4V" which I found online has: "The 1970-1971 M-code version (300 HP/1970, 285 HP/1971) was a high compression 4V configuration employing closed-chamber head design and hydraulic lifters." The car is great and runs well, but has its original manifold. I am thinking about putting long tube ceramic headers on to increase horsepower and improve the exhaust sound. Do you recommend it? Is it worth the money? Thanks Oli New Zealand |

Welcome! To increase horsepower and improve the exhaust sound, I recommend you to do that.
Good luck.

Re: 1971 Mustang - new headers?
The Cleveland original exhaust headers were very heavy and not the best flow. I had a '70 and switched to an aftermarket set of tube headers. It also got a full freely flowing new exhaust out the back. It had a very noticeable horsepower increase and the sound sent shivers up my spine whenever I floored it.
