lost power and can't get it back
Can anyone help me please...
I have an '89 929 with 115,000 origional miles. I was driving and lost power. It will barely go 20 mph. I have changed fuel filter, plugs and wires, rotor cap, fuel pump and it is not any better. There is a vacume line broken of the air filter cover that I still need to reattach. You cant get a book for this beautiful car....PLEASE HELP...THANX>>> |

At your distributor check the pickup make a couple of short connectors with a couple of bare spots. As the engine is running hook up your volt meter across the two wires you should get 6Volts. If it varies the pickup is bad. A rebuilt distributor. Make sure to mark the spot where the rotor touchs the base so you can transfer the mark to the rebuilt dist. Use white out.
To check the crankshaft position sensor unplug it and an ohm meter should go from zero to one when cranking. Last edited by rhandwor; 10-20-2006 at 09:58 AM. |
