crankshaft position sensor broken in engine.

i have a 92 lumina with 3.1 . i was trying to twist out the old cps when it broke in half leaving the other half in engine. trying to figure out the best way to remove the broken half in the engine. i thought about dropping the oil pan considering its right above the pan and trying to pop it out from the inside. any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: crankshaft position sensor broken in engine.

it really hard to see down there, but maybe clean it and jb weld a bolt to the top of the sensor to pull it out? id try that before dropping the pan .. or needle nose pliers

Re: crankshaft position sensor broken in engine.

Much easier to access from underneath vehicle. jack up vehicle & support with jackstands, or drive vehicle up onto ramps. I have never had a problem removing or reinstalling that crank sensor.
Just view it as a box of nuts & bolts.
