Run cars on propane?

I found out that it's possible to run cars on propane. I have seen RVs that have "No Propane" signs. Why?

If your day is gone, and you wanna run on propane,
Don't forget this fact - you can't get back, propane!

Why do RVs have "No Propane" signs?

Re: Run cars on propane?

Are they maybe rental RVs and they don't want the people renting them to inadvertently put propane in them? Or were you maybe seeing the fill port for the generators, and on the RVs you noticed these signs on, maybe they are gasoline/diesel generators rather than propane? Or maybe this whole "low emissions" push has cause some folks to want RVs that don't rely on propane for the RV furnace, water heater, and multi-mode refrigerators so they are advertising that the RV does not require propane to power those devices. Kind of like the large "Hybrid" stickers that GM used to stick on the lower bodies of their hybrid SUVs.

Without having a bit more detail on where the signs were and which RVs you saw these on, it will be pretty challenging to provide you with a definitive answer.

Re: Run cars on propane?

It's a sign for first responders in case of an accident or fire. If there is propane there is the possibility of explosions and they might just watch it burn.
