Changing transmission filter
Driving home my tranny was having a hard time changing. Started jerking a little and had a hard time getting up to only45mph. Fluid level is fine. Got a new filter but having a hard time getting to the bolts near the crossmember. Any suggestions? Blazer is a 96 LT 4X4

Re: Changing transmission filter
I feel your pain, the crossmember has to come out to be able to get the pan off anyway, Trust me it will not come out any other way. The bolts I had the most problems with are the smaller ones in the drivers seat corner of the pan where the Cable Bracket is mounted. The cable is a little tricky to get off, pull out the Horseshoe clip and a pair of long needlenose pliers are able to grab the clips just right to let you get the cable out of the houseing, other side of the cable on the trans is I belive a 10mm nut, Not a hard one but be sure to chock the wheels cause you will shift it out of park when you try to get it off.
Hope this helps J

Re: Re: Changing transmission filter
I appreciate that. Was looking at it and got a little aggravated. I agree with the cable being tough. Looks like it.
Thanks, Jeff |
