92 gmc sonoma 2.5 sluggish? stumbling?

ok, If I'm going down the road, and I accelerate ( floor it ) it goes, but it feels like it's not all there until it hits around 4000 rpm then it pulls you back in the seat (as much as a 2.5 with 200k on it can) It used to go like a raped ape, but now it does this. Fuel pump, filter, strainer are approx. 9 mos. old, tps is new, af is new, plugs, wires, cap, rotor 6k ago, egr is disconnected because if I leave it hooked up, it stumles like crazy just off idle and doesn't stop till you let off or give it more gas. any Ideas on either one? I went around all the vacuum lines with my propane torch (not lit of course) and no change in idle. as always, input is appreciated.
thanks

Will it idle when you put it in gear?
