fitting different rims to old F-250
just bought a 71 f-250 camper special. has 16.5 rims and we want to change them to 16s so we can easily find tires for it. do some gmc/chevy factory rims fit ford? or any others? as long as there are 8 lugs and the measurement between the holes is exactly the same, then they should fit, correct? any input would be appreciated. im looking at some rims now, same 8 lug, same measurement between holes, is there any reason other than the tires rubbing....that they wouldnt fit? after talking to people, the consensus is that only rims that will fit are for that year ford or 1990 trucks and vans.....?

Re: fitting different rims to old F-250
As long as the size of the holes and the distances between the holes is the same then yes 16 inch rims should fit on your truck, the only difference between 16 and 16.5 inch rims is that the flanges are 0.5 inches taller.
Just let your tire dealer know what you want to do they should be able to work something out for you, I went through the same thing with my 77 F-250 camper special it came with 16.5 inch split (tubed) rims which looked horrid which were replaced with some white 8-spoked 16.0 inch rims which looked much cooler. |
