GMC wont start
i HAVE A GMC Jimmy 2000 4.3 when I got the car i put a new starter on it and it started right up but ran very rough. the code was crankshaft positioning senser. so i replaced it then it wouldnt start at all. I replaced the distributor, spark plugs, air cleaner and I chrcked for spark. I also checked the fuel pressure, and all is good but it wont even try to start not even with starting fluid. no popping or anything can anyone help?

Re: GMC wont start
Welcome to AF. Ok, you have good strong blue spark and 55-60psi fuel pressure?

Re: GMC wont start
The CPS you put in could be bad. They are known for being faulty out of the box if you buy a cheap aftermarket.

Re: GMC wont start
Was crankshaft variation learn procedure performed after replacing the crankshaft sensor? P1336 set?
First place to start is check for spark out of the coil..... If you have good spark, then the distributor is not timed correctly......P1345 may be set...... If you don't have spark, then you have to make your tests at the coil harness(term C, white/blk wire) to see if you are getting a coil trigger signal out of the EICM, and then if you are getting a trigger signal at the harness(term B, white wire) to the EICM from the VCM..... If you need this test procedure, I can print it for you.... If no spark, and no trigger signal from the VCM, chances are it's a crank sensor/harness/wiring problem..... |

Re: GMC wont start
When ever you replace a crank sensor, you need to have a procedure done......this is called crankshaft variation relearn.....unfortunately, you need a scan tool, like the GM Tech II scan tool, to do this......
I am surprised that you have no codes set...... But first thing you should do is remove the coil wire from the distributor and attach a spark tester.......that way we know if you have spark...... If you have a good spark, then reattach the coil wire and see if you have the same spark, at the ends of several of the plug wires with the spark tester.....if weak or no spark, it's possible the distributor was not installed correctly,,,,did you do this yourself? If you had no spark from the coil wire, then we have to check the EICM, or the control module for the coil.....either that is not triggering the coil to spark, or it is not getting a trigger signal from the VCM, your vehicle's computer........ |
