adjusting the plunger on a new idle air control valve
97 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0L
When I went to replace my IAC it was in pieces. I have no idea what the original length of the plunger was. I don't want to ruin the new one. My question is, does anyone know where to adjust the plunger to the proper length before install? Last edited by aksalmonslayer; 02-19-2011 at 02:02 PM. |

Re: adjusting the plunger on a new idle air control valve
not 100% on this but it should do it on it's own. I know OBD1 vehicles you had to do some crazy stuff to (I found out after going through three of them). But it should be good to go with a computer reset. (Others feel free to correct me if I am wrong on this) The pieces you saw were the thing falling apart instead of destroying itself.

Just pop the new one in. It will take a few times of starting the jeep but it will reset on its own or you could do a computer reset but really not necessary.
