2010 acadia shaking
Just bought a 2010 acadia slt with 164 plus miles on it. The truck runs smooth and tranny changes gears ok but days later it started to shake when it got to 40-45 mph. I took it to get tires balanced and it got worse..now when it reaches 40-45 it shakes up until it reaches 60mph. Could it be the tires are bad? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: 2010 acadia shaking
If it got worst after the balance, I would go back to that tire shop. Not the first time tire shops screwed up. And yes a bad tire is a possibility.

It's also possible it is the u joints or the pinion angle.

Re: 2010 acadia shaking
When they balanced the tires did they all go back on the same location they came off of? (IE did the left front come off then go right back on the left front, etc?)
If you can verify where the shaking is come from you can try to isolate it by changing the tire location. A few years back my cousin's car had an awful vibration in the front end. We kept looking at all sort of suspension parts and making changes and nothing changed. Finally I said lets just rotate the fronts to the back and see what that does. As we started down the road there was no more front end vibration, but our butts were jiggling because now it was in the back. Turns out somehow both front tires had an issue to cause all the problems.

Re: 2010 acadia shaking
Balance issues at 45MPH are rare. More often that is a problem with bent or non-concentric wheels, tires with slipped belts or other damage, suspension geometry, bent axle flanges, or other mechanical issues.

Re: 2010 acadia shaking
When they did the balance..tires got rotated..rear tires were installed in front and front tires were moved to the rear. Note...front tires were worn out more than the rear.
