Blower has no speed adjustment

Blower motor would not shut off unless I pulled the fuse under hood. I replaced a bad blower motor and resistor on my 03 sierra. start it up and the blower blows but I have no speed control.
WTH? Did I get a bad resistor?

Turns out everything works. Due to the warm engine and outside temperature it functions as it should when went to work this morning. Doh

It may be bad. I'll give it a couple of days and see if it keeps ticking.

Re: Blower has no speed adjustment

The saga continues... New resistor and it worked for a while. Now it'll cycle on it's own. Replaced it and the same thing. Replaced the AC/heat control module from rock auto DORMAN 599211XD. ran the configuration and it worked for a few weeks. Now it's doing the same thing. Talked to dorman tech support and they say I need a re manufactured 599009. WTH? I took my truck to work this morning and it was in the 30's. Blower worked flawlessly. Got out of work and it warmed up to the 50's. No warm air from the blower at the 70F range but if I cranked it up to the 80's it would get hot. Could it be the temperature sensor? If so where is it?
Any suggestions?

Re: Blower has no speed adjustment

headnsouth,
did you get your climate control issue resolved?
was it another bad resistor? or a non-AC one?
or did you get the dorman 599009??
would be nice to know what it was..
i have an 06 Sierra/Hybrid w/140k, and live at
9400ft in the Rockies, so i am constantly using
heater (not so much A/C) for ten months out of the year..
hope you got it fixed, regardless..

The female side of the pins on the blower resistor were misaligned. I also replaced the DORMAN 599211XD. It was also faulty. So far it's all good.

Re: Blower has no speed adjustment

nice to hear it was a 'somewhat' simple fix..
still a pain to flop around on your backside to get to all of it..
glad to hear it wasn't wiring harness; yuk!

Yep, not the most comfortable position to work in.
Glad to put that project behind me. Especially during the winter months. No defroster and an cold cab makes for a miserable commute.
